Animal Farm by George Orwell begins with a prize pig, Old Major, gathering all of the animals on the farm together one fateful night to reveal to them a dream that he had. The animals all listen to his dream and are gathered together to work towards a revolt which was deigned to happen at an unspecified time. A few days later, Old Major dies. The rest of the animals are left together under the leadership of two of the other pigs, Snowball and Napoleon. At first, after the animals beat Mr. Jones late one night, Animal Farm is prosperous. However, the farm soon divides between two 'factions'. One side is for working less, and one side is for doing what needs to be done. Ultimately, the animals find themselves under the tyrannical rule of Napoleon after Snowball is ran off the farm by nine dogs that Napoleon trained. And at the end of the book, the animals realize that while their situation may have seemed better for awhile, it was worse than it had been to begin with. The pigs wore human clothes, walked on two legs, and didn’t associate with the other animals unless they were telling them what to do. In the last scene of the book, we see the animals looking into the farmhouse and as they look back and forth between human and pig, they realize that they could see no difference at all.
